Privacy notice

1. Who we are

This site, vula.gauteng.net, is a Vul' Amathuba Festival platform in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Economic Development (GDED), which hosts the festival with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. GDED is the responsible party for the festival's attendance list. Mind Interactive built and operates this site for GDED and processes your information on its behalf.

2. What we collect

Only what you give us, for the activity you choose:

• RSVP: name and surname, email address, mobile number, age group, sex, race, the kind of opportunity you are looking for, how you heard about the festival, whether you will attend, any accessibility needs, and your consent with its date.
• Job-seeker account: name, mobile number, email address if you give one, password (stored only as a hash), town and province, and your consent to the terms and to being found by employers.
• Job-seeker profile: headline, summary, skills, work experience, education, languages, availability, an optional photo and an optional CV file.
• Employer account and profile: company name, contact person, mobile number, email address, password hash, company details and logo, and the jobs you post.
• Google sign-in, if you choose it: Google sends us your name, email address and Google account id, and we use them only to sign you in to your account on this site. We never see your Google password, and no Google script runs on our pages.
• Enquiries: name, email address, phone number if you give one, and your message.
• Technical: the date and time of each sign-in, RSVP and file download, and a hashed form of your IP address for a short period to stop abuse. We set one cookie, for staying signed in. We use no analytics and no tracking.

3. Why we collect it

To confirm your place and send you the festival details. To let employers and job seekers find each other before and on the day. To answer your enquiry. To keep the site safe. We do not use your information for marketing and we do not sell it.

4. Who we share it with

• GDED: your RSVP answers (the questions on GDED's own registration form) are submitted to GDED's attendance list as well, so it stays complete. Your email address, mobile number and consent record stay on this server.
• Employers: while you have "Let employers find me" switched on, verified employers can see your profile (name, headline, summary, skills, experience, education, languages and availability). Your mobile number, email address and CV file are shown to an employer only after that employer shortlists you, and each time that happens it is recorded and shown on your dashboard. Employers must delete your details when they no longer need them, and in any case within 30 days after the festival unless you are in an active hiring process with them. You can switch findability off at any time in your profile. Your photo, if you add one, is shown to verified employers only.
• Nobody else. No third-party form, font, script or analytics service loads on this site, and your files are stored on the server that runs it, in South Africa. If you sign in with Google, Google keeps its own record of that sign-in under its privacy policy; we send Google nothing about you.

5. How long we keep it

• RSVP records: until 31 March 2027, six months after the festival, then deleted.
• Job-seeker and employer accounts and profiles: until you delete your account, or after twelve months without a sign-in, when we delete them.
• Enquiries: twelve months.
• Technical logs: 90 days.

6. Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw a consent you gave, and object to how we use it. Signed-in users can edit or delete their profile and CV themselves. For anything else, write to [email protected] and we will respond within ten working days. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg.org.za.
